This is some of the craziest hamon activity yet. Lots of utsuri.

This one is DHIII's W2 and his walnut.
Blade is 9" with OAL of 14 1/4"

Wow!!!!!!! That looks like the blade has ice cold flames licking down from the spine. I'm seriously ordering some W2 tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. Seriously. I had to edit this to add a couple more superlatives. Incredible, astounding. Not to overlook the quality of your knife overall.

Still braving the water? Interrupted?

gorgeous!

You nailed it Stuart. Howard Clark once told me in a thread regarding the heat treat of Japanese swords (another forum) that perfection in the hamon is a fine line between disaster and success (not exact quote). I think you found that fine line!

Stuart, you need to have a warning label on your posts for hamon junkies like me. I think the drool running off my bottom lip just shorted out my keyboard:eek:. Amazing work!

Me too. Definitely my kinda knife. That long swedge reaally makes this piece, IMO, even moreso than the spactacular hamon. Congrats to the new owner and colour me envious.

Roger

I agree Roger. It is easy to overlook Stuart's fit, finish and form.

Sssmokin' hot knife, Stuart !!!
Just gorgeous.
Love everything about it.
