Here is a camp knife that I have had finished up for a little while. Its different than the blanks that were cut out in that the edge was taken up near the plunge. Long story but after I heat treated it and while I was at work my little guy took it in the back yard and started chopping...rebar! Needless to say it had a few dings in it so I had to rework the edge. The blade was still hardened since I hadn't tempered yet so you can imagine the chips in the blade. Anywho, I kinda like it and decided to keep it for myself. Im not sure if this is what I will use for the passaround since its not the same design but we will see. I still need to clean up the blade and sharpen and than Ill give it a good workout. My trees are in need of a good pruning!
Really nice Quartersawn curly white oak crotch with OD liners.
Convex ground

The handle design turned out well, The blade kind of looks like a really large Kephart:D
I can't wait to see what it was supposed to look like.
I like it though. Is the handle comfortable for your hand size?

Yeah, I really like the handle. Its not as big as I initially thought. Obviously it took some weight off the front when I ground the edge down so we will see how it performs with chopping tasks.

The blade looks similar to the original up to about half way. I didn't really grind anything of the front portion of the edge. Just imagine the edge going back straighter to about 1/16 higher than the guard.

The more I look at it, The more I like it.
Your knives just keep getting better.
I can definitely see one of these in my KFU collection.
Please post a review if you use it, Or at least some comments
on it in this thread if you get a chance.

That's what I figured it would have looked like, Doesn't look bad like this either.

It really doesn't. I like a drop in the edge on most knives because it helps in snap cuts. Most of my knives have a slight drop now, just not this excessive.

Chopping rebar, That's funny!!!!

Yeah, the little guy is a daddys boy. He sees me in the shop with the knives and wants to use them like daddy does. He is at the age where he won't touch them if I am not around but I guess this one was too much for him not touch! Thats why I wait to sharpen anything the night before I ship it out and have my personal knives in the gun safe.

That turned out pretty darn nice, despite the rebar being thrown into the mix. The handle looks like it won't be going anywhere if you're chopping with it. It should be interesting to see what it can do.

Reminds me of that country song where the little boy tells his dad "I been watching you, dad ain't that cool...."
I'm don't listen to country music a lot but I kinda like this one.

Fantastic lookin' blade Chris. Very well done  . It looks like it could do anything on the planet from peelin' apples to decapitating zombies!

Chris, that looks bad ass man. Really sweet looking blade.

. . . . probably couldn't find another stick big enough to baton the rebar, so he just started chopping away at it . . . . :)
Chris, you gotta love it, at least he didn't pull a Daniel Boone and start lookin' for bears with just that knife and a switch . . .
Good looking piece of craftsmanship, big blades and big handles, just something about them when they go together . . . .
Be safe.

Cooooooooooooooool man, little guy follows in your footsteps beating on stuff lol
