Over the past few years it seems like everyone is making a "camp knife", what knife did you use 20-30 years ago? I've been using a Western W49 Bowie for going on thirty years. The only thing that I have changed on it was reshaping the S-shaped guard to an oval shape. One day I'm going to start carrying one of my Beckers, but it's hard to leave an old friend behind ;) .

Twenty-two years ago, I got back into camping and backpacking in a regular way. I used a Cattaraugus 225Q or Ka-Bar given to me by uncles.

After a few years, I became a knife knut, and the list got too blessed long.

I used to use an Air Force pilot's survival knife. Still have it in my backpack; haven't used it for a while.

When my Dad and Uncle first took me camping they both used to use German fixed blades with leather or stag handles (Pumas were highly prized), and Gerber folders.
