Im looking for a camp stove like a partner stove or camp chef mountaineer that uses a direct propane hookup that doesnt require an adapter to hookup to a 20lb tank. So far the 2 I mentioned are the only ones i can find but they are expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks

They are probably all going to end up with some form of an adaptor, even if it's just the whole hose or an addon. I've got a coleman fyreknight that works pretty well, it's not as good at the super low-down simmer as some of the older ones are, but the pot-holders house the wind baffles, and it's reasonably wind-resistant, so it's all a compromise. Just means that if you are making pancakes you need to keep the pace up or the pan will start to overheat.
To me, the main advantage of having multiple options on hookups is that tank standards have, and will change, so it's better to have options. I can do standard coleman 1Lbs, I have a 6lb mini, and can do 20 and 30lb tanks which are also really common where I am. 20 being most common for all the swap-n-go stops, but guys who run trailers tend to run the bigger tanks. The main regulator takes the 1lbs, and then I have a hose that runs out to the bigger tanks. If you wanted to have just the regulator on a hose, I think coleman does sell those, you would just need to know the output fitting of your tank.
I'd pick a stove you like the look of, and then contact the manufacturer to see if they sell additional hoses. Worst case, so long as you know what fitting the stove takes, you can get a hose made by a air/gas place, it just might be a bit expensive, compared to off the shelf.
