Just a little over 3 weeks from the time I ordered on the 3rd of October.:)

My first impressions:
When I unwrapped the Camp Tramp I thought, "My Gawd but this ain't no Wimpy Knife!!!!
And it is not!!!!:)
The Camp Tramp is about 3/8" wider than my Busse Basic #9 and is only 2&1/16" shorter!
I like the small changes in the grip. It's about 1/16" or so longer than the #9 and has the slightly rippled/speckeled finish and is sterile unlike my Basic.
There wasn't anything wrong with the Basic's handle finish, but this makes it appear more professional IMO.
The only downside to it is that it wasn't shaving sharp right outta the box for some reason, but I will have that fixed up shortly, however the penetrating point is very pointy and I like that.
I did pretty much the same thing to my E-Battle Mistress so I wouldn't have to take a hammer to stab it into something.
I can understand a knife getting through without being perfectly sharp for a business that's just starting to get rolling as is SRKWs.
A little further down the line it would be inexcusable IMO as I believe a knife should be usable right outta the box.
I'm sure it was just overlooked, it's not that big a deal to me, but I could see it being a problem for some of the sharpening challenged.;)
There is a burr all along one side and it isn't easily removed with a jeweler's rouge strop so I will put it on my Grizzly buffer and take care of that.
The fact that the burr isn't easily removed tells me it's gotta be some tuff steel.:D

An interesting side note maybe to some is that the Camp Tramp fits right in my Basic 9's kydex scabbard!!!! Yes, the scabbard is a little long for it, but it wouldn't matter if you were needing a hard safe scabbard for something like a float trip or a slightly extended stay in some wet and nasty climates.
I got my Basic 9 from 1SKS when they first came out with the really nice kydex if you're wondering about that.

On to the Bandicoot:
WOWSA is the best word I have right now to describe it!!!!:D
The Little Cooter Did Come Shaving Sharp right outta the box which is very encouraging to me.
The handles of course are all the same so no use in mentioning that any further.
I love the leather sheath, said before I forget it as it's sure dayumed nice enough to be mentioned and a nice change from the tactical black that's been long overworked IMO.:)
Mine comes in at about 5 1/2 ounces so the weight is negligable to begin with, but with the beautiful balance it disappears in my hand.
Very Well thought out design!!!!
The Bandicoot would make an excellent little boot knife or as a backup for LEO's and Military IMO.

So that's my first impressions from right outta the box so to speak.
As time goes forward and I get to use them a little I will let y'all know how they work.
I don't get out like I used to due to health concerns so it may be a while.

I bought the Camp Tramp with the idea of making it a concealed daily carry. About the only place I have to carry it would be tip up and under my left arm so I may need a safe scabbard to be able to wear it there without sweat and deoadorant doing a number on the scabbard as well as the knife.
I'm short at 5' 8" and heavily built at 265 pounds so that limits the places where I can conceal a knife this size and have it readily accessible.
Any suggestions as to whom to talk to about making me a scabbard should I really make up my mind to carry it there?

Now you have gone and done it ! Now I can not wait to get my COOT !

Sounds like I will not be disappointed!:D

Now, wheres some pics!

I have heard people talk about a "Crocodile Dundee Rig" for carrying a large knife. I have seen the movies (a long time ago) so I assumed it was some type of shoulder or back sheath. Maybe someone wioll be kind enough to explain it and point to a maker. I am interested in a way to carry my Tramp too.

Yvsa,
Glad the knives arrived safe and sound. If you have trouble getting the CT sharp let me know and we'll take care of it. This is the first complaint I've heard of a Rat not being sharp out of the box, and I'll look into it.

Anymore when I get a box from the Rat House the hair jumps off my arm in anticipation before I even get the box open. :D:D

Looking forward to hearing your impressions after you've had a little chance to use/abuse them.

BTW, good observation on the Bandicoot as LEO backup, this was what it was primarily designed for. :D

I've seen a few sheaths like you are describing, I'll try to track down a maker.

there is a 'croc dunny rig', do a search on BF, I can not quite remember where it is though. It is a simple system that any of the TAC sheath people could do over there.

My coot came shaving sharp right out of the box. It's a great little knife. I love the leather sheath it came with, too.

Seems to me that, SRKW will be around for a long time to come, as well as accomplished what they set out to do, make a great knife at a reasonable cost. Pair these up with a few Busses and and I'm ready to go......

Congratulations on your purchase, Yvsa!

I can't wait to hear how you like the steel, and how it performs. It sure sounds like a nice setup you've got there. Please keep us updated!

Yvsa,

For an under-arm shoulder sheath contact Robert Humelbaugh of Survival Sheath Systems. He's got several models available. http://www.survivalsheath.com/noflash.htm I've got one of his rigs I wear for many hours a day and it's very comfortable.

You could also get in touch with Eric Noeldechen of On-Scene Tactical to see if he will fabricate up a rig like you want. http://www.mnsi.net/~nbtnoel/ His belt sheath design is my personal favorite.

Another possible source for a kydex rig would be Mike Sastre of River City Sheaths. http://www.rivercitysheaths.com/

David Brown in Arizona may also be able to make up the carry rig for you. http://www.buybrownholsters.com/

All of these guys have very high workmanship and produce top-notch products.

Thanks Greg.
What do you carry in your system if you don't mind me asking?

I had some down time the other day and finished stropping the burr off my Camp Tramp with the jeweler's rouge strop.
It took a little while, but I'm happy to say that the CT is now as sharp or sharper than my Cooter.:D
I still can't get over the size of this knife, 12 1/2 inches with a 7 1/2 inch blade that's just a hair over 1 3/4 inches wide!!!!
It's about as large a knife as I could conceal under my arm.:)

Thanks Yvsa...

You got me so excited that I just ordered a Camp Tramp for myself. :D Now I can't wait, but I have to...
