I recently purchased a mint Camp Tramp w/ penetrator tip on the exchange, and it is everything I have come to expect from Busse and Kin. However, when I measured the blade thickness, it is significantly less than .25". It' s much closer to 3/16". Is this unusual or, perhaps, a limited edition??? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I would say usual based on my Ratweiler and Chopweiler...both of which are below the advertised. .25 thickness, especialy when you consider the coating adds thickness.

Yes, most were in between 1/4 and 3/16ths. Mine is .22. :)

Great find btw! CT's are getting scarce these days.

I just put some calipers on a few of them..

Chopweiler (coated) .248" Listed at .25"

Rodent 6 (coated) .261" Listed at .265"

RMD CG (coated) .190" Listed at 3/16"

Scrapivore (coated) .148" listed at 1/8"

Pretty close.

Your such a giving and caring soul! :p

Haha, I'm sure you have a few that need identification too Dwayne! My address is 295 West Walnut St...

On a different note, I just picked up an old grail of ours! I'll grab some pics tomorrow AM.

I'm already in serious Swamp envy! :D
Thanks for all the input. I don't have a micrometer, but my TRUSTY STANLEY FATMAX reads approx. 3/16".:)
Sweet! A knife as wide as the CT can be laser sharp at that thickness. :)

Wicked, I just checked my tan Tramp...and she is shy of .25" thick as well; more like .22". However, both of ours are differentially heat treated  I have had zero second thoughts about pounding the hell out of mine through hardwoods, and she bears the scars very well!

I just got a matching tan beauty back for the first time in YEARS, and I think I will take this one to the grave this time. I originally traded Dwayne a Battle Mistress for this Desert Jack because I wanted her so badly! There are a ton of knives that I have regrets about selling, and the Jack was surely one. She just melts into your hand and at 6" of differentially heat treated SR-101, I can't find a better utility knife. Not to mention the sheath quality matches that of the knife ;)

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics guys. Don't have time for real photography lol.

That Desert Jack is awesome. That is one that I wish I would have gotten. Congrats on an amazing blade.

Oh wow! I remember that one, and that sheath is old school!! I havent made that style belt loop in many moons.

I remember a series of trades between you and me, but I think this one went for something else iirc. That mistress was being offered on a different trade, Ratwieler I think. No mention of which one please. ;)

I do miss that Desert Jack,

There's some sweet old school porn in this thread. I still kick myself for passing on a desert jack on the 'bay a few years back. :barf:

Wicked Sharp,

I've had time with a number of tramps in my day and none were that skinny.

Hey Dwayne, since you are on this thread, can you tell me how far back this sheath goes? Is it an old style? I know the knife is from around 2000 and I just bought it used off the exchange with the sheath.

Sorry for the drift -

Nice Steel Heart E! I have a special place in my heart for the SHe, it was my first Busse. Little did I know at the time.........

That is not as early a sheath as the one above, it shows signs of a later vintage. But, if I can see the back, please send me pics via e-mail at armoralleather@yahoo.com and I'll talk with ya. :)

I apologize for my aging eyes..., but I had another look at her. And, on closer inspection..., she is EXACTLY 7/32". Now, would one of you generous souls have a RH sheath that you might part with???:)
