Camp Tramp Question

I don't own any Busse knives and I am not very familiar with their products. I believe that Swamp Rat is a Busse company so I am posting in this forum.

I am now considering the purchase of a Camp Tramp or a Cold Steel Recon Scout.

I would appreciate any comments on either knife.

P.S.--I had started a thread a couple of days ago when I was convinced that I needed a Stainless Steel blade, but the BF crew has now convinced me to move to a carbon steel tool.

Yes, Swamp Rat is a sister company of Busse. They also have their own site further down the manufacturers listings right here on BF. You can also check out RatChat at www.swamprat.com for more info.

The CT is a great knife IMHO, way beyond the CS. I have 3. 1 user, 1 on loan and 1 in the safe. Check out these sites and I think you'll be convinced also. Welcome aboard!

W4L,

Hey, and welcome to the Busse Forum. There are those who could answer your question here but it may be better addressed to either of the Swamp Rat forums... either here on BF or at www.swamprat.com

For what it's worth, I'd go with the Swamp Rat over the Cold Steel.

Depends what you want to use the knife for. The only area where I think the Recon Scout would match or exceed the Camp Tramp is as a fighter, as it is more centrally balanced, has a narrower point, a full guard (which is certainly debatable in its usefulness) and its straight handle facilitates a greater variety of grips.

For all other use, while the Recon Scout is a good knife, the Camp Tramp surpasses it. It will out chop the Cold Steel, hold its edge longer, and is much more comfortable in heavy use--due not only to the handle shape, but also the fact that resiprine-c is much more forgiving on the skin than kraton, not to mention longer lasting. Add to that Swamp Rat's (and Busse's) lifetime no-questions-asked warranty (good luck getting Cold Steel to do anything for you once you've used a knife), and I think you can see why I recommend it.
:)
Swamp Rat has a forum here too...drop in and say hello!

O.K. O.K.
From now on I will post Swamp Rat questions in the Swamp Rat forum.
:)

BTW, in case Mr. Busse reads this, he should know that the reason I do not own a Busse is DELIVERY.
A couple of months ago I tried to buy an Active Duty. I called HQ and was told that Busse had NO STOCK and could not deliver a knife for months. I ended up buying a Sebenza with those funds, but there are times that I really could use that Active Duty.

WFAL, If you're still interested in an Active Duty you can check out the For Sale forum and/or make a posting in the Wanted To Buy forum here on BFC. AD's do occasionally come up for sale. Also the WTB forum may find someone with an AD they don't use & would be willing to sell it to you.

BTW, welcome to the Busse and Swamp Rat forums. Always glad to have new folks stop by.

Thanks for the help, team.
I called Busse today to ask about an AD and I got an answering machine. I left a message, but nobody called me back.

On the other side, the Swamp Rat website doesn't even list a phone number for them. You have to contact SR by email if you want to buy a knife.

Oh well.

Yes, you are correct but I respond very quickly. Sometimes within minutes, almost always within a couple of hours.

Or you could post any questions on either of our 2 forums. I respond quickly there as well.

Welcome brother.

Rats are great and Busse is well worth the wait. I concur with most of what is above.
