Spyderco Campground folder for XL hands

Need a pocket folder for XL hands to compliment a fixed blade around the campground.
I am partial to Spyderco so looking at a Shaman or a Manix XL. Any suggestions..? Thanks.

Manix 2 XL is a great choice, and one of my favorites. But if you will be doing a lot of hard cuts bearing down into wood, I might prefer a Shaman for a little more robustness, and a more comfortable place to put your thumb. I think I would go fixed instead of folder, myself. If a folder was indicated, I would go with a Voyager or something like it from Cold Steel before a Spyderco, again for hard cuts. But if you will baton, then really the folder is pointless unless you get something like an XL Voyager, but even then batoning it enough will likely lead to lock slop in the field, if not eventually permanent degradation, which again reiterates part of my reasoning for going fixed.

I like both Spydercos you mention.

Answer depends a bit on the size of your fixed blade. Also, think if you need bottle opener and/or cork screw, depending on what you drink and who with :)

When I think giganto, I think Cold Steel Voyager XL. Big 5" blade, Tri-Ad lock, useful blade shape, etc.

Not my favorite knife in my collection, but it does get tossed in the bag as a user.

First thing I thought was Spyderco Military. Another one to consider is the Victorinox RangerGrip 78.

Both the Manix XL and Shaman are great folders. Can't go wrong with either. I second the Military as an option.

Other blades to consider are some of the ZT models. I live my 562CF and the 308 is also on the larger side.

As a member of the xl/2xl hand club, I would recommend a Cold Steel Recon 1. The CS 4 Max or Voyager might be my backups.

I'm not against Spyderco, I own more Spydies than anything else in my collections.

All good suggestions thus far. In fact the Buck 110 and Cold Steel Recon are stalwarts.
However, for really large hands and heavier-duty camp chores, the Cold Steel 4 Max Scout is the one to beat IMHO.

My fixed blade is a Bradford guardian 5.5. I need something pocketable for smaller chores. Thank you all for the comments.

Great all purpose, medium size fixed blade.

To complement, I feel you don't need something huge or ultra-tough. A good slicer, long handle/blade ratio are best (I have 4XL motorcycle gloves).

Since you like Spyderco, I recommend the Military. Fits the requirements perfectly, IMHO.

I have both, the Shaman and Manix XL in S90V. For some reason the Shaman with the original handle was too sleepery and uncomfortable for me. It has great blade geometry, heavy back and it would be a great cutter but my hand sleeped few time to the front and I’m not using it till I get better scales for it, I’ll be looking for micarta or something more grippy…
Manix XL is absolutely great if you can find it in S90V, it’s a great steel IMO and I’ve being using it for a long time,
cutting wood, door frames, plastic fence, opening bags of concrete mix, cutting wires and hoses. It’s a great working knife, excellent size, very secure handle.
lf you need to get something non-Spyderco, my first choice would be Cold Steel GoldenEye and my secon - Cold Steel Voyager L tanto.
l only put the Voyager second after the GoldenEye because of the steel, Golden Eye is S35VN which I think is very well heat treated by CS, where the Voyager is using now Aus 10A.
Both knives have great ergos, the Golden Eye is flatter and maybe bit smaller than the Voyager.
l extensively used both and found the Voyager to have better ergos but didn’t like the steel for what I’m doing with my knives. Either way, I’d lined them up like: 1. Manix XL in S90V, 2. CS GoldenEye, 3. CS Voyager and last one only because I don’t like the grip and ergonomics (subjective in my case) 4. Shaman…
l wish l can slap some pictures but lm not at the computer right now…

Do you have a style, price, origin preference? Though they're on the pricier side, Chris Reeve Umnumzaan, large Sebenza or Inkosi are excellent large folder options. Benchmade Crooked River or Spyderco Para 2 are good options too.

What I use for this is a Benchmade Presidio. Definitely made for us with gorilla hands, and will take whatever you can dish out.
