Camphor Burl Wood?

I'd be interested in an answer for this too. Along with the Magnolias my house is almost ringed by Camphor trees. The bloody things are almost weed like in their proliferation.:grumpy: It'd be nice if they could serve some purpose other than occupying my time with keeping them in check.

:D All the best,
Mike U.

Sorry! I've not used it, but would be interested in seeing a photo. Also, is this called anything else, like Vitex tree etc.?

Is this the same as eucalyptus? If so, I've used it and it makes a great handle but you usually have voids to fill.

I have used it. It is very dense and will burn very easy. I think it is the same wood que sticks are made of.

I don't think its Eucalyptus - The pictures I see of it show it to be tight and without voids. Someone in an earlier post listed it as a wood that does not need stabilizing. I see it used for fine jewlery boxes and such.

I know the leaves of the Camphor tree kinda remind me of a mini-blowtorch when they burn. It's an intense and lively fire from such a mediocre looking leaf. Actually that really concerns me since we have six Camphors around my house as to what would happen if they ever caught fire.

Guess I really should fire up Mr. Chainsaw and thin the grove a bit.:D
