Hi,

I've been meaning to post a thread on my camping trip in colorado and just now am getting around to it. My daughter and I drove up through the panhandle of texas to palo dura canyon and then on to gunnison colorado the last week of may. We spent time hiking and camping and had a great time. I used the tglb as my main camp knife, split kindling for the fire, and food prep and just general camp stuff it of course did great. We had a blast and the scenery is wonderful. Here are a few pics.

Thanks for the fantastic pics Dave! Those are some truly epic views

Brings back memories, cricketdave...

Palo Duro is only slightly smaller than the 'grand' canyon.

I hold the distinction of being one of the only people I know to have been thrown-out of that park.

Texas doesn't allow alcohol in State Parks. And Park Rangers consider beer to be 'alcohol'. phhhhhht. Rookies.....

Still, anyone who has the chance should go... (but put your beer in a cup). It's awesome scenery!

Hey Hooka, thanks for the comments. The fj has really impressed me off road its very capable and fun. I plan on taking off the factory skid and putting better ones on, and maybe lifting it. The snorkel was interesting to put on, drilling a 4 inch hole in the fender gave me the willies, no going back after that.

Awesome pics Dave! You made some great memories for both you and your daughter.

Killer cool. .

Thanks for the kind comments all. My daughter wanted a camping trip with me for her senior trip before she heads off to college and the army so we had a good time.

hehehe, yeah drilling any kind of hole in your nice new vehicle is always a huge leap of faith but looks like you did it well. I've been drooling over the new FJs for a while now and those pics have me now wanting one the way I find myself lusting for some pieces of new INFI!

Your reviews and contributions are always appreciated Dave! Glad to see you're having a good time...keep it up :)

I looked at 3 vehicles for off roading and camping, the jeep wrangler, the toyota fj, and the hummer h3. They were all similar in price. Passed on the hummer the interior just didn't do much for me, after driving several jeeps my back told me to pass. That and I really don't like working on broken down vehicles. The toyota was smooth and comfortable on road and really good off road so thats what i picked. So far I've only done minor mods to it some plastidip and paint and a few minor mods like moving the breathers up high and added the snorkel, added rock rails and a high lift and adapter to use the rails as jack points.

I wish I had some more pics of it off road but it was mostly in deep mud and water and for some reason my daughter refused to get out and take pics. Whiney thing.

As it came from the dealer

Great pics, looks like an awesome time. I like that you blacked out everything especially the side view mirror on the FJ.

Ahh, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. One of my mostest favorite areas ever.
