i was bored and decided to run back up to my house from moms for a couple of hours and took one of the junk files i posted a pic of a while ago. i was just pounding away on it getting ideas a i go and came up with this. its a kitchen knife that can double as a chopper. its also a camping knife (to me atleast). the radius that is cut out behind the clip is to place your palm on it when doing heavy slicing. its thick enough to have some balls behind it when you use it to chop. i plan to do one stock removal when i get some more money for steel. i know the handle is a bit long but i changed the design after making the handle and i need to cut off about an inch and a half and then add more curve to the handle. so hows it look? comments and suggestions please. :D

thanks for looking

placing your palm on it when your cutting something instead of chopping at it. it forms around your palm to better support it when pressing down. also trying to come up with something different. not sure if anyone else does it.

Makes sense. I would however, be careful with that design. If you are designing it to allow the off hand to put pressure there, then that means that it would be dangerous to have the clip point sharpened. One slip and you have a nasty, going to the hospital slice. The shape calls out for at least a false edge on the clip, if not a sharp edge. But the belly calls out for it to be a false edge at best, and not sharp. Just my thoughts.

i already had designed the clip to be a false edge. i continue the false edge into the dip. that template is a really rough design. what do you think about the handle geometry? im going to be moving the bend foward. to me it felt good but when it comes to working in the kitchen, i wonder if it is too much curve.

Actually looks good to me and I like the curve on the handle. Once you shorten it to the proper length it won't seem like quite so much curve anyway. The blade shape looks good too.
