Which would you recommend for camp chores, (light chopping, etc...). BK&T Companion, CS SRK, or CS Bush Ranger? Where would be the cheapest place to purchase a BK&T Companion? I already own a BM Nimravus, (ATS-34). I was looking for something more stout.

Thanks for your help.

I prefer the CS Bushranger.....I guess because that is what I use..I also considered the BK&T...They seemed too heavy duty..overkill...Email me for the best prices on BK&T...and everything else too...

You'll probably like the Bush Ranger better. It will out slice the SRK anyways.

Yet another vote for the bush ranger. If you must carry the Becker knives very far you will notice the weight.

Used a Bush Ranger in AUS8A. Not impressed. Too big for many tasks, Kraton handle is beginnning to turn white from DEET, blade is tough to resharpen in field, too light for chopping.
Now I use a Cammillus Kabar and a hatchet instead.

The Bush Ranger is certainly lighter than the Campanion. The blade is also longer which gives it (in my opinion) a better balance for chopping. Having said that I have to state that I don't own a Bush Ranger but do own a Campanion (known to my camping pals as "that Becker"). The Becker will chop but its a little short for that in my opinion. It will skin, and properly sharpened it will cut anything you might want to cut. "Capable of field dressing a Buick" was how it was billed a few years ago and I believe it.
I have never noticed the weight, as it is usually balanced on the other side by the "glock du jour".
Happy testing...

The low, hoarse purr of the whirling stone—the light-press’d blade,
Diffusing, dropping, sideways-darting, in tiny showers of gold,
Sparkles from the wheel.
