Some friends and I are leaving for a campout up Mount Nebo in a few hours. We will be leaving Provo around 4:15pm and camping at Cotton Wood campsite which is close to the Nebo Bench Trail head and Bear Canyon Campsite.

Anyone is welcome to join us if they would like. My car and I will be having Tin foil dinners and either corn bread and jam or cobbler for dinner. Breakfast is Pancakes and eggs. Here are dirrections: Bear Canyon Camp group. Cotton Wood campsite is an unimproved campsite between the trail head and Bear Canyon. It has a rest room, picknick tables, fire pits, gravel drive ways, a stream runs through it and it's free.

Will be posting pictures from the trip sometime between Saturday afternoon and Tuesday. Have a great weekend!

Did you hike up to the top?

The last time I was there was in the developed campground at the lake, don't recall the name. Before that we attempted a winter climb, lots of snow. I learned a valuable lesson - never trust anyone else as outfitter. I went with a group that was supposed to bring the food. Well, the rations were, to say the least, lean. I was so hungry and fatigued half way up that I (and several others) went no further. Some of the group made it to the top ridge, but not to the true summit.

Hi Don, We probably won't be hiking the trail this time. Just camping at a new campsite near the trail head and doing some shorter hikes in the area that I know. I'm the food guy on this trip and we have enough food for 3+ people and there are 3 coming so we should be good. Issac is fualing up the car, I'm having some food and packing the cooler, then we are off. Probably leaving in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Got 2 hawks and a Khukri all packed along with my normal folder, Multi tool and fixed blade. I hope thats enough steel for this trip. Well, got to stop typing so I can eat and leave. Be back tomorrow!

Yeah, that trip on short rations was not fun. It was in February, too. I got to the summit ridge, where I managed to step through the cornice. Fortunately I caught myself, or it would have been an interesting ride down.

a friend & i hiked in from the devils postpile in the 60s . we were really green & the 1st stream we waded w/o boots i nearly vomited, snow melt water so cold my buddy got stopped midstream & could'nt move, had to cut a branch & pull him out. went on up to mt. ridder & dehydrated food in 65 was a real joke. hope you guys have a great time.
