Had a great weekend camp-out with our YMCA Indian Guides and Princesses group this weekend in Huntsville State Park, TX. The weather was fantastic!

This was the first out door outing for the Izula since getting it and it performed wonderfully on food prep, some utility tasks, and making some "spears" for the kids. I can see how a bit more blade would be useful so definitely going with the 4 in the near future - probably let my wife buy it for my Christmas present. Also will probably change wrap soon to a more "hi-viz" color and order the 4 in orange as well.

No action pictures of the Izula but we did sacrifice a broken camp chair to the fire gods! :D

Very cool! I have very fond memories of Indian Guides from my youth.

My boys center and right with their arrow heads won in the field day competition - I think everyone won :-)

I'm not familiar with this--what is "Indian Guides"? Is it an organized thing through the YMCA?

My son is in cub scouts and we just had our first campout last weekend. He loved it--camping out in 34 degree weather is just what he loves.

Indian Guides and Princesses is a father/son/daughter group through the YMCA. Not sure if all Ys have the program. There are goals, but less stringent than the scouts.

Our group does a camp-out every month except December and February during the school year. Much more than our local scout group. My son did scouts as well for a couple years but likes the fact that there is more camping with the guides.

Cool. I will have to look into that. This is my first experience with scouting and it's not exactly what I had in mind. It is much less outdoors than I expected. Granted the kids are only 6 and none of the other parents have ever slept outside :)

Well one to your lads winning the arrow heads!

Hard lines to the kid on the left who won the not-so-cool runner up prize of the "nose protector".
