Camping on the Mogollon Rim, Northern AZ. This site overlooks the Blue Ridge Reservoir, amongst the Rim lakes, the area has the highest concentration of wildlife anywhere in AZ. Bears, Wilcat/Mt Lion, Elk, Turkey etc. etc. This campsite is walking distance from "The Battle of the big dry wash", where 4 men earned the Medal Of Honor. It's a majestic place to camp.

I brought along my Tanto Waki to use for the first time. It is the only Tanto Waki that I know of, and what a sweet stick of steel it is. I am thoroughly impressed, as it was going through the smaller trees sometimes in 2 strokes. I think I'm going to strip it next.

You can see the water through the trees

In the Pine forest, processing some firewood, spot the hidden Waki

All set for a few days, rain was coming in off and on

Some visitors came by for a beer and Map check

Over the reservoir

Pine is not ideal for firewood, but sure does smell nice when burning.

:thumbup:Looks like a great place for camping. Nice blade and pistols. Are they both 45's?

Thanks for the comments.
Gus, the 1911 is a Series 1 Kimber Classic Gold Match(as you know, .45) and the Glock is a 31(.357sig). Honorable mention to the Glock e-tool who's handle can be seen in one of the photos. That thing is one of the best tools I have bought in years. It's absolutely indestructible. I have broken numerous mil spec e-tools over the years.

snwbrdr, yes the Reservoir, and most of the lakes up there have Bass, as well as Rainbow trout and a few other species. I did some fly fishing while there but didn't get any pics. My favorite spot to fly fish on the Rim is at nearby Chevelon Canyon Lake. It is secluded, and you can go the whole day without seeing anyone, same with the reservoir. Here's a place I like to camp overlooking Chevelon Canyon. The area below in the first picture rivals places I have fished in Yellowstone, OR, WA, Wyoming etc. Last time I was down in there I had Elk, porcupines, and Wild Turkey walking passed me while fishing. It is a days hike to get in there, so it is quite pristine.

Beautiful pictures  This makes me want to go camping so bad, like right now.

Cool pics! Florida can be so plain in comparison to other regions of the country.

I like the knives, but the Kin swords really speak to me.

Great pics!! Looks like a beautiful place to go on vaca. I love the Waki. I want a stripper Waki too. :)

Very nice pics, thanks for posting. Never seen a Waki like that. I love mine. Nice choice in firearms too. As Garth said nice to see the flag up.

Great pics! Looks like you had some pretty good weather, what's the elevation, temps stay cool?

Props for flying the Flag as well. Love to see people with pride for our country.

Garth

That's what caught my eye! I love seeing that too!

The first thing that gets unpacked, is always the flag. :-)

The weather up there is nice, it stays right around 75 and breezy through the summer. It's about a 2-3 hour drive from Phoenix. Elevation is about 7000ft. with the closest town being Strawberry AZ. The whole place is under snow Sept-April, and all roads into the area closed, making it a wildlife oasis once the snow thaws.

:thumbup:Right on brother! I agree with Garth, good to see people with pride for our country.:)

Cool! I like your choice of side arms. Nothing like a good 1911 .45, and I really like the Glock .357 Sigs as well, my EDC is a G32. Got to get one of those Glock e-tools. Dig that shotgun too! :D
