Hi Guys, I wanted to let you know that I'm going camping up Mount Nebo or Maple Canyon here in Central Utah on October 12th and 13th.

This is the same weekend I used to take the Snow College Outdoors Club up Nebo so the weather should be really nice like normal. Pretty much I'm trying to revive the tradition of going to Nebo in early October.

There were some Big fires around Mount Nebo in July. They might have burned out the camp sites I normally use. If so we will head to Maple Canyon which is just a little south of Nebo. Both places are extremely beautifull in Late September and early October. Those that go will be pleased by the wide range of colors. Greens, browns, Orange, yellow and so on. The nights are cold but the days warm. The air clear and quiet. Normally there are no fire restrictions so I will have one going most of the days. Khukuris are the prefered tool to chop and gather with.

I'm going to cook a Dutch Oven Dinner Friday night with either Chili or chicken stew then Cobbler for Desert. Everyone is welcome to join in on the food. Dontations are requested btu not required. Breakfast should also be a group thing. Not sure yet what I'll cook. You'll need to provide your own Lunch Saturday.

Activities will incluce Camping, hiking, reading, using large knives, cooking, playing games, relaxing, rock climbing and so on. Just your normal camping hings. I'll have a few Khukuris and other knives with me. Maple Canyon is home to world famous hiking and rock climbing spots. Nebo for it's breathtaking views and hiking trails. We will be there durring the hunt so depending on where you are hiking, you might see deer/elk or Turkeys it's hard to say. When I was up Nebo in July my friend and I saw lots of Turkeys and Deer. Sheep and Cows are comonly seen there.

I might head down Thursday if I can find a ride to setup camp and just bum around before everyone else shows up Friday afternoon. Anyone is welcome to come Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Thursday I'll do my own little dutch oven dinner if others show up. If not I'll probably eat left overs from home.

If anyone is interested in coming on this campout in October please let me know. It's going to be awesome!!

Wish I could, Heber. If the kids weren't in school I think I might even drive out. Time is crunched here. A 3 hours commute each school day for the kids leaves them exhausted on their weekends, and they get to catch up on that lovely homework.

Your trips always sound great.

I must do one of them before I leave earth.

Heber,

I remember the pictures back in college.

Not too far for me. Just a quick 4 hour drive. Complete with pregnant wife, excessively talkative 2 year old and a mild mannered 11yr old, solely focused on Bionicles.

On second thought, maybe I better get back to you. 4 hours......uhh. :0

I do agree with Munk though; a must do before it's too late.

We'll synchronize the timing, Roger, and get to meet each other in person. It'll be fun.

Hey Roger, and Munk it would be great to have you guys. My brother and his Pregnant wife might be coming if the weather is really nice. Munk, who needs school? Give the kids a break. ;)

Roger, I think Godzilla wants to stretch his legs in Utah again. If you come with him I think I could make it worth your while. ;) And I'm sure the kids would love it. Back when I was a scout leader I was incharge of the 10 year olds, Webelows. They loved hiking and grilling hot dogs where we are going to camp, sure you son would like it too.

If you guys can't tell, I'd love to have you and your familys join us. That goes for everyone in the Cantina.

Not this time around, Heber, but it's in my internal calendar for the future .

Ladies and Gentlemen, I wanted to remind you that the campout is getting closer. It's just under 3 weeks away and I'm really excited. This might turn out to be a church funtion since I'm on an activities commity for my college church group. Then again it might not. Depends on if the church leaders will endorce it. If so I might have extra funding for food and such. :)

Either way I'm still going to go camping that weekend and you guys are welcome to join me.

I snagged a Kumar Karda from Wednesdays Deal of the Day, it's getting a few modifications then it's coming with me on the campout along with a few Khukuris, bowies and asorted knives. It's going to be fun.
