Campsmarter? Am I stupid?

Back in March I ordered a manix 2 XHP from Campsmarter, an online merchant. They charged my card and then they emailed me back and told me that the knife would ship in June. I was a bit surprised since around this time people were posting that they had recently received their manix 2 in carpenter steel from their dealers and wondered why it would take 3 months to fill my order. After a bit of a run around, the Campsmarter customer service people told me it was on back order and Spyderco would not be releasing more knives until June.

Now I get an email update telling me my knife won't ship until September! WTF????

I think it is ridiculous that it would take 6 months to fill an order...Why have it on your web site if you can't fill it in a reasonable amount of time?

Maybe I should cancel the order and get my money back...Anyone else have this experience, or am I the only one campingdumber?
 
Get your money back. They already lied about having the knife., twice.

And now they're telling you they're going to get more knives of a sprint run? Spyderco isn't making any more so where are they going to get them from?

Get back your money and look elsewhere.
 
I have bought from them before. I also had to email them to find out that I hadnt got my item because it was back ordered. It took a while but I finally got it. Hearing your post makes me think that this is a normal occurance with this company. I do not think I will be doing any more buisness with them.
 
I think I read that the Carpenter steel Manix 2 was going to be made in 2 runs and that the second one hasn't shipped yet? If so then there story sounds plausible. Maybe someone who knows for sure will chime in? But charging your card first is BS.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Stick with more enthusiast friendly vendors.;)
 
Most good internet companies will not charge your card until the order ships.

As for the time frame, sounds plausible, If you cancel your order, make sure to pre-order somewhere else if you really want this knife. As it is now, you got a pre-order that you unfortunately paid for, but you're probably guaranteed to get the knife once Spyderco makes it and sends it out.
 
I've had good experiences with Campsmarter but in this case I'd get your money back and look elsewhere.
