i received the camptramp about 2 weeks ago and its impressive to say the least. i rounded off the squarish front part of the handle a tiny bit with a file and its now more comfy to hold when using the choil. other than that mod, its gonna stay the same sweet way.
anyway, the knife was a a brutishly tight fit into the sheath. after about 10 in-and-outs it started to slightly mar the finish. it was so tight that it was a struggle get it in or take it out with one hand. i contacted both okuden and on/scene for an upgrade but in the meantime i'd try and make the OEM sheath work.
talk about blood, sweat and tears - although not in that order. i have read previous posts on how to remove the insert from the sheath for adjustment and i thought i'd try it myself. there was so much gobbed glue in there that the dull table knife didnt have a chance to pry out the insert. i was actually perspiring (SWEAT)
because i worked frantically for half an hour to force it out with no luck. i was reluctant to use the camptramp because i didnt want to accidentally cut the nylon part of the sheath.
to make a long story less long, i have hot glue all over my hands, a bandaid on my pinkie (BLOOD)
, a sheath with multiple knife wounds, an insert that is no longer glued together and probably woke the neighbors with the 4am hairdrying.
eric, no thanks on a replacement sheath, if thats what you were thinking considering your excellent customer service. i have a vague idea that the camptramp sheaths are the weak link in an otherwise great product.
by the way, thanks to everybody for listening to my crying (TEARS)
