if i use Flitz polish on a knife (lets say, the Native), can i use that knife to cut food (apples, oranges, meat, etc....) or is Flitz toxic/non-digestible

is there even enough on a blade to be worried about?

Well, the MSDS sheet advises to rinse the mouth and drink plenty of water after ingestion, though I would think that is for someone who squeezes the tube directly into their mouth? I would consider it to be safe after I washed or cleansed the blade with a damp rag or something. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can step in with advice.

I've eaten with silverware polished with Flitz, with no ill effects...

I have no idea if it's recommended, though.

im sure its fine. it would be such a small amount left on the blade anyways. I have cut food with who knows what on my blade. never had a problem.

There is a difference between dirt and industrial chemicals. When your young you laugh at that stuff, when your old it catches up with you. There seems to be a unwritten law that says young people do not listen to old people, when they warn them about that stuff to use the proper protection.

The following is from the faq at flitz.com:

You Mention Countertops, Appliances, And Serving Pieces; Is Flitz Safe To Use On Surfaces In Contact With Food?

Yes, Flitz is completely non-toxic. It has USDA approval to use on surfaces in a food preparation area. Flitz can be safely used on serving pieces, such as silverware, without any danger. After polishing, just wash the piece in warm soapy water and dry off as usual. The Flitz will not leave any flavor or smell behind.

I saw an infomercial for Flitz a few years ago and the guy specifically stated it was safe for eating utensils and even polished a spoon and then licked it to " prove " his point. I have used Flitz for a while and always felt it does a good job of polishing different metals.
