The reason I ask this, I recently got my hands on a ZT 302. I'm now sold on titanium framelocks. I was looking at the ZT 0551, but they're in such demand you need to pay $300+ for one these days. I'm hoping for that price I may be able to get a Strider or Chris Reeves. Is there any knife either name offers for around $300?

0551's can be had for under 250 if you look on the exchange. Small sebs can be had for 275 if you're ok with it being used. Striders are usually 350 and up depending on the model of course. Your best bet is the 0551. They come up on the exchange all the time. If you can find someone willing to ship to your location then you could get one for well under 300.

The regular Strider PT is the only model of folder between CRK and Strider that is $300. Maybe you know but it's smaller than the SNG.

CRK's cheapest folder is the Small Sebenza 21 at $335.

You might find some larger models used for around that price but I would suspect you'd be buying a user that won't be in "new" condition. Striders and CRK's, as you've probably seen here in the exchange forums, hold their value incredibly well.

That's just my 2 cents based on what I've witnessed here on the exchange.

You can get a number of Ti framelocks for under $300. Don't ruleout the ones listed below.
Spyderco Ti Military - $215
Spyderco Fluted Ti Military - $230 +/-
Spyderco Sage2 - $150
Spyderco Leafstorm - $140
Benchmade Subrosa - $175
Bradley AliasII - $165

Thanks guys, I'm going to do some homework when I get home and compare my new options.

I was pm'd by a couple of members. I'm currently considering a ZT 0551 and a Strider SNG. Any thoughts? SNG will be about $70 more.

*SMF is now a contender as well as the two mentioned above. Thanks for the msg and I'll let you know!

I've got 3 Sebenzas and an Umm and only one did I pay $300 or above for and thats because its a P model. You just have to know exactly what you want, be patient and keep the cash on hand for when the opportunity presents itself.

Edit: Out of the three knives that suddenly became available to you my vote goes for the SNG. I have a ZT 551 and its one hell of a knife but something about the SNG just really does something for me. Maybe its the one piece of G10 that makes the scale and backspacer, the high hardness of the S30v, the opening hole, or the many different configurations that this model is available in. That said I've never owned an SNG so its all just from what I've seen of them and the fact that for the last month I cant get them out of my mind. Anyway, good luck on your decision.

Hey hoppingzombie, can you pm or email me the specifics of the smf please. rantoine(under score)kinginks@hotmail.com

are you willing to buy used? i picked up my small sebenza for $235 used, here on BFC about a year ago.

I was real lucky and got my small seb for $285 from a local dealer. I probably won't ever see that deal again

You can get a used seb or possibly even a zaan for $300. In the past month I have seen one 0551 go for $225 (nib) and a used one go for $190. Just takes patience.
