Can an axe handle be turned into a knife handle?

The other day, I was browsing in a hardware shop when I came across a nice piece of axe handle. The first thought that popped into my head was "this would make a nice handle for that blank knife lying somewhere in the house."

The only problem is how does one proceed to do that. I have it in my head but that's different from translating that thought onto wood and then onto a knife.

What are some of the simple procedures? And also how not to hurt some of my fingers.

:D

You could use it. But why bother? They use pretty plain woods for axe handles etc. There are so many finely figured woods being grown in your country, a call to a hardwood distributor would be beneficial.
I would be willing to bet that it would be very inexpensive also. That way you could get it in the size desired.
