Picked up a pair of these tongs from a local second hand store today because they looked useful but I'm not sure if they are specific to one thing or not. Anyone?

Not a knife of course, but that tool is for pressing something between the flat platens.
Not likely for stamping tangs.

That is a huge press! I will be tuning in to see if someone has an answer for what it is.

How long are the jaws? It might be some sort of crimper for sheetmetal/tin used for heating/AC duct work or downspouts?

Ground control to major tong lol! That about killed me. It's not as big as the pic looks. I took another pic on my 380# sawyers anvil next to a hammer. Better perspective.

Supratentorial That's a beautiful saw setting tool !! Can you give me some more info about it ? Most saws today are throw away type no setting necessary. After many years of learning about and setting saws ! :(
The large diameter mill saws I always rigged up something but I had to be creative as it depended on type of wood and whether it was green or dry. Most of mine were in a saw mill .When you get into thin kerf blades we sent them out as that's a precision job.
