Hey Guys, I picked up this knife blade, with intentions of putting a handle on it. I'm just wondering what the blade's background is, if any? The length of the blade from tang to tip is about 7". Also, I'm not entirely sure the brass cross piece goes with the original knife. The blade looks a lot like the Buck 119, have some pictures but I can't get the to upload.

Upload the pictures to photo hosting website (photobucket works great) and link the photos into your forum post.
Without pictures I doubt you'll learn much about your knife.

Off to a good start. Add the
tags around the picture links, and you get this:

You might ask this topic to be moved to the Schrade Collectors sub-forum. Simply click the "!" triangle logo at the bottom of your first post.

It'll be helpful to know if there's a model number stamped on the knife blade. With a model #, you should be able to find original examples of that knife. That'll probably tell you if the guard is original and perhaps a history - years of production, etc.

Good Luck!

Just a photo tip or two that'll make it easier on anyone attempting to assist your identification. Add a close-up picture of the tang stamp. Your camera flash reflects off the blade, turn it off.

G'day, some photos of the Sears Buffalo Bill 166 in above thread for comparison to yours.....make great restoration project with similar timber handles..Hoo Roo

Thanks again for the tip. There is no model number stamped on the blade. There is a number stamp on the cross piece "01590". The stamp on the blade says "Schrade Walden Made in U.S.A. Below a photo of the stamp.
