Can anybody help to identify this (sword)?

I bought this today at an antiques shop and the owner wasn't able to tell me much about it apart from that it was about 100 years old. From the pictures you can see it has some sort of inscription but I can't tell if it is decorative or some sort of language. Can anybody tell me anything more about it please?

I was going to say it kind of reminds me of a shorter Dha almost.
