XXXXXTS AXE
JONESXXXXX

Sometimes Steve Tall can work a miracle out of that. I can't.

All I can make out is
Something TS axe and possibly Jamestown.

Try filling the stamp in with white crayon, chalk, or a grease pencil and take another picture.

i don't have the axe it's one i'm thinking of buying, does anybody possible think it says the following?

COLLINS AXE
HOMESTEAD

Nope.
And I don't think the Collins name was never that small.
Plus that looks like a very narrow single bit ( swamp pattern...ect ) so Collins wouldn't have their name in the middle, but always at the poll.

My homestead axe is a less common one though, as it only says homestead in large letters .

Sometimes those stamps are not the maker but the jobbers company. Makes identifying things that much harder.

Highly pixelated shot. A clear close up picture would help so that when axe ID guru SteveTall checks in to take a look he'll have an answer for you right away.

Sonovagun Steve! Going back and looking closely at this I'm definitely buying into your ID. Another one (of many) that you've seemingly pulled out of a hat.

Yep, happens all the time. I really don't know how he does it. The man has a knack for that sort of thing.

yes steve you are the man. I have now just bought this axe and will try to post and keep you all updated on whether steve is correct. But we all know he is :D

After further research of the G White Axe Co they have a four point proof mark after the makers mark and that is there so steve you are 100% correct. Bravo

No magic to my methods. I focused on what I thought was the city name. Some trial and error. Jamesdale? Nothing on google. Jonesdale? A town in Wisconsin came up. A google books search for:

Jonesdale WI axe

then somehow resulted in the link I posted showing the G. White ad with Honesdale (not Jonesdale), and the Wisconsin reference was irrelevant. So some luck involved, too.
