There was a recent post which described briefly how Sergiuz(?) made beige micarta. What type of resin/epoxy would you use and does it matter what type of fabric you choose?

real micarta is made by westinghouse under great pressure and heat....and comes out real nice< As a surfboard manufacturer for over 20 years...I can tell you it will be a BIG mess and wont come out nearly as nice as you would like, plus the cost will probably end up being more than the micarta...

It's not quite micarta, but you can make your own handles from cloth, paper ect...

Try blue jeans or handmade paper from the craft store...cut 3x12 strips, lay up with epoxy, use some plastic as a release sheet and clamp between two boards...

Wait a week, break it apart, trim and cut a set of slabs...Use a fresh belt and work it slow...

Just for fun, but it does work!
