..what the metal handled version of the Vic Ambassador was called?
 
Nope it was like the executive/director, it had a steel handle not alox
 
The Executive and the Ambassador are two completely different knives. Same size, yes, but different functions. I know for certain that the alox/steel version of the Executive is called the Director and still widely sold on eBay. Gatch is very correct about the Windsor referrring to the Ambassador model. Last I've seen of that model is on an old Victorinox leaflet I have.
