Cool knife! 40s' to 60s' production???? SPLIT full tang with "H" shaped leather washers. Looks original. Don't clean it. Keep it and use it. Very nice piece!
 
Western made some really fine knives, in their old Boulder, Co. location.
That one is a keeper, for sure!

It's a Western Shark model military knife. 1095 steel. Made mostly for the Navy from WWII up to the 1970's I believe. It's a split tang knife. They take a very good edge with little effort and seem to hold it very well. I've had a couple and regretted selling each one. Blade is about 1/8" thick and slices and carves wood well. Good knife for bushcraft and general outdoors.
