Can anyone date this Spyderco Police?

I've only ever owned one other Spyderco, a Wegner I had shortly around 12 years ago. I just traded for this Police model but I don't really know anything about it. Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated.

The lock on mine doesn't have the Boyle dent, so I guess that narrows it down to 1998-2000.

Does this model have any liners?

Also, didn't the original batch have the original three screw clip before they added the pivot clip?

Are these older models collectible at all? It's a neat knife but I just can't see myself carrying it.

With the ATS-55 blade steel and the G-10 handle I would date it somewhere around 2000-20001. The ATS-55 era started with most of the Japan made Spyders around 1998-1999. But I'm quite certain that the G-10 Police model with ATS-55 didn't come on the main line up till about 2000-2001.

I've heard Sal say that he believes that VG-10 is superior to ATS-55 and I believe that but I'm telling you from experience that it isn't bad steel either. It's a nice aquistion and I would certainly keep it and use it. Or add it to your collection. It's a keeper in my book.

That's quite a long time frame my friend and this makes the Police G-10 by implication to the long time runner in knife industrie per se ... just kidding.

Pretty much every Spyderco model is of interest to some collectors and there are definitely some who specialize in collecting all the many variants of the Police.
