I've checked out www.simonichknives.com and saw the knife "I want", not want, "I need", thats what I tell her indoors,

Anyhow, I was looking at the Young Survival Knife and said "Yes" thats for me, then I saw his waiting list, 2 years, I don't mind waiting a few month's cause I have a knife on order from Tim Britton and Jimmy Lile so extra $$$ are rare, but I would like the knife in 2 or 3 month's.

Is there anyone else who can do a knife of this style and has a good reputation like Simonich??

Thanks Guys.

If the maker is "good" and has a "good reputation" he won't copy Rob's work. I don't mean to imply you wanted him to "knock off" one of Rob's knives, but I just felt I had to say it.

If you want a Simonich, you should really get one, they're great, though I understand your reluctance to wait for two years.

There are many excellent makers who frequent these forums who may be able to help you out.

Some of those makers work can be seen by checking out the knife pages of many of the members of bladeforums.com.

Mine, for example, can be seen by clicking the link below my signature.

Good luck in your quest.

Edge, if you want one made from 52100, I make one similiar to Rob's. It would only be about a 3 month wait. You can pick handle material, blade design, etc. There are any number of makers that can make the size and type knife you want. When you want a knife of Rob's, you will have to wait till Rob can make it. You can check out the Bladeforums custom knife web sites and you can find one suitable for the time being.

No! NO! No! NO!

Get this straight before my computer gets burned out by flames, I am not looking for someone to "knock off" one of Simonich's knives, I am looking for a maker who can make a knife similar to this knife and if he wants to can change or improve on what I think is an already excellent design.

This is for one reason, I don't have the time to wait 2 years for an original....

Thanks.

EDGE! Not to worry, if I am asked I will be more than happy to provide the design to another maker! You know they say that imitation is the highest form of flattery. I have no problems as long as I get credit for the design. It is when someone rips off something that I get upset.

Sorry for the long backlog, and if you look closely I have even quit taking orders, I dont like the 2 year backlog any more than you do!

Edge,

Since Ray Kirk jumped in, I can tell you that the four knives I have of his are all keepers, and his prices are excellent considering the quality of the work.

You'd have a hard time going wrong with Ray.

The Edge Equipment also has a couple of Simonich knives on their "In Stock" page.

Ryan and EDGE!, that is a great buy on the SRT from Aquatimer. And he is right, in my opinion it is one of the best knives I have made. The variable grinding on it is tough to do and it turned out just right. Here is a picture.
