Any experts out there care to help me date this Lum Tanto? It's titanium scaled. Solid liners (not skeletonized) and ATS-55 steel. Made in seki city.

Had it in my collectors box for ages, bought at the local store here when they used to carry folding knives (they had some real gems gathering dust on their display (I got a lil' temperance there as well about 10 years ago.

I've been googling around trying to get some details on it but drawing a blank so far. Most of the information out there is about the more recent sprint run of this blade.

Cheers,

Ming

Being it appears to have ATS-55 blade steel I would say it was made around 1998 or early 1999. I don't know exactly when they switched over to VG-10 blade steel on the C-46 Lum Tanto folder but I do know that they made more with VG-10 and they ran them longer as well. I would say that the ATS-55 version of this knife if it's new in the box would have more collector appeal.

This is one older model that sure has gotten popular again in the last year or so.

Guys don't solicit sales from registered users, you should know better.
Sales go in the Exchange and require Gold membership or higher.
Thread has been pruned.

Are you sure JD? I've only ever seen the titanium Lum Tanto in ATS-55. I know at least some of the later batches of the G-10 version that replaced it in 2001 were VG-10 but thought the titanium ones had been discontinued before that happened.

I wasn't referring to just the titanium model alone although I'm not really certain as to whether or not they did any Ti models with VG-10 blades. I was really just commenting on the entire line up C-46 Lum Tanto folders in general. There were other variations of that model that for sure had VG-10 blades because I owned a couple of them over the years with a G-10 handles. But strictly speaking of the titanium handled model with VG-10? that I can't say with any certainty. But for some reason it does seem like they did at one point.

Also over the years I've seen more C-46 Lum Tanto models for sale in VG-10 than I have with ATS-55. The one Titanium C-46 Lum that I owned back around 05 I believe did have ATS-55 from what I can remember.

I'm not an expert but she is gorgeous and I can see why you would want to date her. My suggestion would be to start slow and maybe meet for coffee. After breaking the ice a little, dinner and drinks or a movie would be a good move. Whatever it is that you decide to do, make sure to gauge her responses to determine her interest level so you can adjust and not scare her off. :D
