Greetings all, my desk knife is an Opinel no. 8 with a drop point. I cannot for the love of Pete find this model anywhere. Can someone direct me to a source for one? I have found a similar one in a fixed Opinel kitchen parer, but not the folding locking ring knife.
thanks,
Mongo

You mean the Coteau de Jardin model, that also has the tapered handle?

I've been looking for that model myself, had no luck.

If all you want is a drop point Opinel, it's easy enough to do with a regular file. I've done it to three of mine.

There is none better! Ragweedforge is the best there is on price & quick shipping.

Thanks all so far, but I am looking for the carbon steel version, not the stainless. I like to play patina games with my Opie!

Try this: http://www.opinel-musee.com/idx_magasin.htm
Click Utilitaires, then click Lame courbe et le pointu item 8VRP carbone the blade seems to be a little less drop point than item 8VRP inox and the handle different of course.

1€ = 1.26$

Hope this help, feel free if you need more.

Garrone, that is the one! However, I'm fresh out of Euros... where can I order in U.S. dollars?

Smokey Mountain Knife Works carries, or at least used to carry, a lot of Opinels. Give them a check- put Opinel in the search box. The Opinel Museum has a means for Yanks to pay, but they are very pricey on shipping.
