Hi guys,

Im new here so firstly hello!! the forum looks great and I think ill really enjoy it.

I've been struggling to find a specific knife and thought you guys might have a multitude of knowledge between you and may be able to help ?

essentially from what I can make out its been discontinued and is out of stock or no longer available on all the online retailers I can find.

its called a BUCK CROSSLOCK HOOFPICK (ill try and attach a photo)

Thanks in advance

Jay

Moore Maker makes one too. My ranching partner had one attached to his saddle in a sheath I made for him. He never used it. Honestly, IMHO (and I've got a couple zillion miles horseback over some really rocky terrain) they are kinda gimmicky. I've just never seen the use for em. However if ya want one and can't find that Buck, Moore Maker makes a decent cowboyin' knife. Very popular in our world. But what ya see guys carrying are the full size trappers.

Couple different ones at a branding. And welcome to our little hangout!

:) My limited experience in cleaning actual hooves with a regular fixed hoof pick would lead me to NOT want one that folded or in combination with a blade .

They can get pretty nasty/filthy ! YMMV

The Buck Selector II hoof pick locks in the open position. Also, the blade is removable. So you can put it in the dishwasher.

:) I suppose it's just a matter of personal preference .

I generally much prefer a fixed blade for any very dirty chore , but that's just me . ;)

It’s not a critical application, like the blade will close and cut your finger off. So a locking blade is good even if it isn’t sharp. A take apart knife lends itself to cleaning. There is only one blade in the knife (Selector) at a time. So you can clean the pick and/or the handle before you insert a regular blade to whack up the summer sausage at the picnic.
If you use your regular (Selector) blade to clean fish, all the parts can be cleaned before you dive into another food prep app.
