Can anyone help me with some ideas for FFBM sheath?

In an attempt to have some fun and save some $$, I wanna make my own sheath for my FFBM. I've never made a sheath before so I don't know how to go about doing it.

I started to make one out of cardboard. I first covered the factory cardboard sheath in transparent tape (In hope to make it a bit waterproof). Then I cut up a shoe box and wrapped that around the factory sheath for a second layer. Again I covered it with transparent tape.

I want this sheath to attach to my belt and a strap to my leg. I have plenty of para cord for this (should I use something else?). I just don't know how to attach the para cord to the cardboard sheath. I'm afraid if I punch holes in the cardboard to lace the para cord through it will rip over time and moisture might be able get through the holes.

Anyone make a sheath like this before? Got some pics?

Thanks guys

Seems like the cardboard would also get wet on the inside. Additionally, I don't think it would hold up to well to the weight of the FBM.

You sound like a perfect candidate for the backyard sheath project!! I am attaching a link so that you too can create a $4 sheath for a $400+ dollar knife. I joke - but the PVC pipe trick works great and I'm still using mine.http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526778

Oh GOD no! Not my infamous "Sprinkler Head" sheath. :p

The PVC really was a good idea and worked perfectly.

That is awesome thanks for the link! Way better than cardboard... When I get a chance to go home I'll see what I have lying around and give it a try. Should I cover the blade with anything as I compact it into the pvc pipe?

I didn't. Just heat it up till it's soft, compress it so the round pipe is oval and you can fit the blade in there and then press it down. I used a board to press it and held it for a couple minutes until it cooled.

Just be careful... those fumes will get to you and make you see crazy things -- I came inside and thought i saw Hillary Clinton on TV running for president.:p:p

Dang i never saw that thread I am gonna give her a try when I get home....gives me an excuse to chop wood, start a fire, heat stuff up, and PLAY WITH INFI!
