Can Anyone Help Me?

Friends,
Last week I was laid off by my employer. It seems to be a regular occurance here in Britain to have a job for a few months or perhaps a year and then for the job to disappear.
I am keen, loyal and hard working. I have a good knowledge of computers, office procedures and some supervisory experience but my real passion is the outdoors.
What I really need is a mentor, someone who is prepared to take a chance on me and teach or train me. This is something I have lacked all my adult life.
I am a good carpenter, can do basic metal fabrication and I can weld. I can handle a chainsaw and can do most jobs around a farm.
Is there someone out there who would be prepared to spend some time on me? I hope so, all I need is a chance.
Regards

I'm sorry I can't help you, but I wanted to wish you luck. You sound intelligent and motivated. I doubt this will be the place to find help in that area, but keep doing whatever you can (start locally.)

There are loads of jobs out there now. If you like working outdoors find out stuff about civil engineering. Lots of courses which includes training and getting paid.

Where abouts are you? I'm guessing you're out in the country somewhere.
Have you thought about national trust or forrestry type jobs? How old are you? D'ya fancy a collage course perhaps?

Guys,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I actually live in the middle of the Black Country but what I would really like is for one of our American or Canadian friends to help out. I know its a long shot but all I want is an opportunity.
Once again, thanks.

Companies hire Loggers from all over the world. Many of the fruit pickers that come to my region are from other countries, as are many of the farm workers.

Looks like the dirtiest and hardest of the work but it gets your foot in the door. I do not however know who to call, sorry,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I know that camps (at least around here) hire a lot of people from various countries during the summers. We get a lot of "new faces" during the summers coming into the knife shop. Just a thought.
