Looks like like stabilized Redwood Burl to me. (pic below) At any rate, that should make some great looking inlays for a Kopa. Please post some pics when you're done if possible.

Redwood Burl, though I couldn't tell if it's been stabilized or not, as that is how it looks like. I've used it once:

The pre-stabilized color is orange.

I will also say it looks like redwood burl. I have some that is not stabilized and it is a light weight wood. I don't have a lot of experience with different woods so I can't compare it to something but when you pick it up it is noticeably light. If yours doesn't feel like this then it is probably a pretty good way to determine if it is stabilized since that should make it quite a bit heavier.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Edit: You might want to post that large lot in the makers forum. There are makers with much better knowledge of wood there. There is also a person who stabilizes and sells wood that frequents the forum. I'm sure you could get some quick answers. Oh and nice grab! I would love to get some wood like that for that cheap. Was any stabilized?

I'm sure your camphor guess is correct. Other than that, it's hard to tell in photos. The little guy in the bottom left might be bubinga, the plain brown material might be khaya, the one below the big board looks like a piece of afzelia I have, and the burl looks like amboyna (that should be really easy to confirm by smell).

number dv 4 looks like purple heart cedar the questionmark wood on the right left corner looks like blackwalnut

well i finally got around to using the wood, i am thinking it isnt stabilized just from the feel and look. i still have to buff the knife out.

the streak is just from me wetting the wood down before the pics.
