Hey everybody,

I found some belts in my shop - nine of them, I think - and I cannot figure out if they are AO or ceramic. I am not sure of where I bought them, but my main supplier is not open for business today, so they are not answering the phone.

They are a dark reddish-brown and here is what is printed on the inside of them: SANCAP, C982, 710, and MADE IN USA.

I looked in Google and was only frustrated.

If you are familiar with these belts, please let me know what they are.

Thank you,
Andy

Sancap is the company and C982 is the series. Not sure what the 710 is. Sancap is out of business so there's no use looking them up. Sounds like AO but that's just a guess. Do you know what the grit size is? I don't imagine it's 710 as I've never heard of that.

Usually when i use my ceramic belts it starts to expose the white colored ceramic. That could be a decent way to tell probably.

No guess on what they are.
If they are old, it is likely the splice is not strong anymore. Put one on the grinder and run it fast for a few minutes to check. Don't stand right in front of the belt. Then push a bar of plain steel into it and see how it cuts.
