can anyone identify this knife for me please

What you have there is a fantasy knife. Worth maybe $20.
The cuttouts in the blade, sawback, and fake antler handle, subhilt, and fitted stand are dead giveaways.
Sorry it's not a collectable.
Also, these knives are made out of cheap stainless and should not be used heavily as they may cause injury.

I am an expert in this field due to my early collecting years. I used to think: if it can't saw through a hammer, cut on at least 3 sides of the blades (plus the pommel), or deanimate a dragon I shouldn't buy it.

Stick around please. It will become an addiction... you will lose all your freinds because you always want to talk about knives... you will be poor... you will learn to hate S30V because of a mystical chipping issue on a single knife years ago... you will buy a RC-3 before a RAT-3 even though they are basically the same yet the RC-3 is twice as much... You will like either Benchmade or Spyderco, NOT BOTH... You will someday drink the coolaid and own a Sebenza and a Busse (but you will buy a Swamp Rat first to see if you want to invest in a Busse)... You will compare primary bevels, secondary bevels, convex and zero degree edges... You will know the difference between flat grind and a saber grind... you will buy a tanto blade, but realize it only looks cool... At first you will like combo edges, then trade them all on the trade forum... You will get addicted to trading knives and trade away a few that you will wish you kept... You will cut yourself... You will get a Sharpmaker, then graduate to benchstones, and someday realize the enlightenment of a stropped edge... You will try and split hairs... You will baton something, hurt yourself, then head over to the Axe, Tomahawk, & Hatchet Forum and discover you need a Gransfors Bruks Hatchet... You will sharpen D2 to a rough finish and sharpen VG-10 to a mirror finish... You will get an infraction at some point... You will have lots of knives...

Not understanding 'most' of the terms you mentioned in your post left me wondering what exactly do i know about knives!! No doubt you are really into it ! Did you actually try splitting hairs with knives !!! ??? Is that possible? You sharpened the knife by yourself to that precision!?
Got work tomorrow but would definitely come back to see your next post tomorrow :)

Michealmcgo,
I feel like you have been follwoing me around since I joined BF and have been reading my mind. I just bought a GBH (Wildlife) at Eugene even though I have not actually chopped anything for a reason in 30 years. My only chopping has been to test my "new" chopper knife.

Dittos to that Ron, I live in Bellevue WA, an area mainly known for the number of big construction cranes for the high-rise bldgs that are continually going up, and I'm about as much of an outdoors person as Paris Hilton.

Two yrs ago, I bought a RMJ crash axe, just in case of the 'big one' earthquake that is supposedly a matter of when, not if. I figured the axe would come in handy in case of a quake. For what, I'm not totally sure. Then I saw the Ranger crash axe in S7, with pry-bar feature, and I had to have that. I have yet to use either, other than to hone them.

LOL I'm about 2 months into the cutlery scene and I have already:

1. Talked too much to friends who don't care about knives
2. Cut myself (yesterday :()
3. Bought mostly Tanto blades
4. Liked combo edges (but now prefer plain)
5. Tried to split hairs (just tried this today, as a matter of fact)

But at the moment, I like both Benchmade and Spyderco :D

This is why cults often have tiered levels of knowledge concerning the cult. If you give away all the secrets when they first join, they run away screaming into the night...:D
