I inherited a knife from my grandfather. He passed away a few months after I was born so i never really got to know him. He was a machine mechanic in a cannery as I understand it. I was given the pocket knife he carried everyday.

It says Robeson Shuredge USA on one side and 211007
The pic doesn't really show it but I would bet the wood is rosewood.

Thats all I know and would love to know more. Searching google turned up very little. Thanks in advance.

schadenfreude, welcome to Bladeforums!

The best place for identification of old knives is The Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification Forum.

I had a Case knife in that pattern. Put a nice hole in the heel of my left hand one careless day! But Robeson is also an old New York State company. According to Bernard Levine's Guide to Knives and Their Values, 4th Edition, Robeson continued until 1940 and was reorganized under new ownership until 1965. From then until 1977 it was part of Ontario Knife Company.

So, I hope the more experienced folks at the BL forum can figure out the date of your grandfather's knife.
