Hey ALL!!! I have owned this Mike Yurco Custom Knife for a few years, and I have always been fascinated with the material of the handle.
With that being said, I havn't the foggiest notion of what the hell its made from. I think its the most unique of all the knives I have ever owned.
The Yurco serial number of the knife is 1624. Its really crazy....you can roll the handle in the light......and it seems change to a slightly lighter
shade of burnt orange with a hint of gold??????Im wondering if its some kind of wood painted with a Kandy Reflex Then Clear Coat???? Anyway!!!
I would really like to know. My name is Andy Altman. My email is andyaltman@live.com or call or text me at 1-570-889-7074. Kindest Thanks!

Andy,

If I am not mistaken, I believe the handle is spalted Box Elder. The handle is sanded and polished with a green compound.

My guess is spalted maple also. I think if you emailed this link to Bill Akers of BackWoods Knives, he would be able to confirm. Many of his custom fixed blades look something like your pic.
Here is a thread by Bill Akers. You can email your pic to him by clicking on this link. I don't think he would mind a bit. I've bought several wonderful blades by him in great woods, such as Box Elder, etc.
