Reminds me of Black Palm wood but I doubt that's it

Reminds me of Dymondwood, but that is a brand name product and this could be much different. The gist behind this type of material is layers of several hardwoods with or without dye and coated in resin then compressed...so basically, I believe that it's like micarta but with different layered hardwoods instead of canvas, linen or paper.

That's my guess anyway. :)

I think that this thread got moved here from another forum after the creation of another thread here with the same question...so I merged both into one. :)

I have one of those. I believe it's a product of a lamination process and not a solid piece of wood.

That is pretty much it. Not really sure where the material came from but it turned out great once we shaped it into a handle. Congrats on a great score.

As soon as I read:
Cupid 70, Cupid 49 & Cupid 19...

I MUST HAVE THEM!!!!

I knew exactly which knife he was referring to by #70. Wow... I like your style, Alex:thumbup: Did you get 'er?

BTW...raise your hand if you think Jerry should offer another BA ganza like that one :D

I hope Jerry will do one more ganzaaa like that Cupidganzaaa 2011 , i can't travel to any of the blade shows and for me to get some awesome knives,,,,,,,, a Ganzaaa style offering is the best .

Actually...no on all of them. That Ganza was so freakin' huge, I had to chop down my want list before the GO. Those 3 got axed. #70 got cut because I had others like it in Bruiser & Olive/black at that point, I believe. Still have the O/B one, but all my other bowie protos are gone, IIRC.
I did score a lot from that Ganza... I recognize 30 (Sus Scrofa wharny variant with really cool burl handle) & 32 (finger groove BATAC-v) as being here, plus the BATAC (35) and the SJTAC (37) & the SFNO (58) that match it. Also one of the Olive Slayers (57) and a bunch of others, like (71) FSH-v & (72) the M/O CGFBM & (76), the really cool SH-v (or is it a NO-v?). Oh yeah! #81, the Mammoth Jack! VERY limited, and I have the one in the pic. :)

;)

(the Cupid score show threads if anyone cares. :))

The scales on that Scrofa are too cool! lol, and nice cat--my friend noticed one following him around the park the other day and decided to take him home. A cat, not a scrofa... lava scrofas don't do parks...

There is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
