Can anyone tell me about this knife and the company that makes it?

Please post more pics of markings

What i found from my google-fu is that is a New York Hammer Brand. Could be wrong though but it looks like the same markings as this one

Those are nostalgia markings, not makers' marks. I believe the mark is currently owned by Taylor Brands LLC for sure. Trademark#3705335 per USPTO. So it is likely to be a Chinese made imported knife.

Queen Cutlery Company was the last registrant of the New York Knife Company name. But it is now a dead registration. New York Knife Co. is a current trademark of Taylor Brands as well. #3030899.

I think Bear and Son made some recent(last 2-3 years) runs using Hammer Brand, not sure about the New York brand. The front bolster looks a lot like Bear and Son also. But I definitely am not the one to ask, just thinking out loud.

Here is the tang stamp of the knife in question. This is clearly new production. See Codger's comment above.

The original mark was used by Imperial on carbon steel knives (as in, they rust) before WWII, but it looks way too new to be almost 80 years old. Stainless, yes?

Thanks for the answers guys i bought this for 5 bucks and was just wondering. Lots of good info, thanks for the quick responses.

Thanks for the information it really helps. I was hoping it was something special but am not surprised that it is not. I only paid 5 bucks for it so it is not a loss. Thanks again steve001

You probably got your money's worth at that. Use it hard and see how it holds up. And use the experience to find a better quality knife in the hopefully near future.

Looks very similar to the Parker/Frost knives of the 80s/90s to me, despite whatever lineage the stamp may have.

Edited to add: ...which are really not bad knives at all. Perfectly serviceable.

The lack of pins (glued on?) in the handle suggests Bear and Co.
