It is from my grandpa. The only thing I know it is sliver handle.I think it is made in German at about 1940s.
Can anyone tell me more about this knife's background?
Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

For starters, it's a small gentleman's pocket knife made by Carl Schlieper, who is still making knives today in Germany. Well, not him PERSONALLY, but the company. They are often referred to as Eye Brand....that is the "Eye" on the scales below the list of cities (I think those are cities)....and on the tang of the main blade. Looks like it's set up to be carried much like a pocket watch...if so desired.

Others will probably be along to add more information, or maybe move this to Bernard Levine's forum.
So sit "Chilly" and we'll see who else comes along..... ;)

The blade says Rostfrei , Solingen, so I guess the maker was originally German. However, the handle says Fabrieks Merk, which is Dutch, and the last four cities are all Indonesian, which was a Dutch colony before WW II. I think the design on the back is also more 30s than 40s. Nice knife.
