Can anyone tell me what a stone wash finish is?

I'm familiar with bead-blast finishes and satin finishes, but what is a "stone washed" finish? Is it some kind of coating?

If you are referring to Chris Reeve's knives, I believe they are tumbled with ceramic beads. Hope this helps.
