Can anyone tell me what Sgt. Karka does in the Nepalese Army? Is he the Regimental Kami or does he only make Khukuris as a hobby? Do the Nepalese even have Regimental Kamis in their Army?

Great question! Still can't get over this blade...

:D

(I dont know but am sure Sgt Karta will agree)
(This is also a little but of fun)

Sgt. Karka is the absolute Head Cheif and Bottle washer.
He learned how to be a Kami, by first being a cobler.

Just teasing, but am sure that some will see the humor.

I was wondering the same thing, particularly whether he is still in the army or if he is retired or what? I guessed from the uniform that he was still in, that suggests that he is stationed near Bir Gorkha which in turn is slightly worrying because it means its possible that at some point he will be transferred and HI would be denied his undoubtedly key talents.

LOL WarrenR...

Unfortunately, it's just the Sarge's blade that is so keen...my own, alas, are still "Just on the dull side of sharp" <sigh>

I do, however, intend to take Yvsa up on his generous offer of a sharpening lesson the first chance I get to go to Oklahoma again. Maybe then I can change my location!

After 35 years of service in the Nepali Army the truth is Sgt. Karka now does just about what he wants to do. He tood a six month leave to help us get BirGorkha going. He's like all good Sgts and Navy Chiefs. He knows how to get things done.

He sure knows how to make a great blade Uncle...I need more Sgts around here like that!

Yeah, a toast to the Sgts of the world, in the words of a fair few I have met:

'Dont call me Sir, I work for a living!' And aint it the truth!

I'll raise one to that. Sarges and Chiefs, the ones who really keep the military going.

35 years  !!! I thought 10 was bad enough, can't imagin 35! Holy smokes.(But if I could have, I would have ;). )
