Its an 18" Ang Khola, marked

"Made by KGR" but the R looks like a B, i'm not sure. S.N 70. The side of the blade has something that looks like a stylized A and a stylized lower case 't', or lower case 'f'.

Can anyone tell me who made it?

Kmark,

When serial numbers were being put on the blades, there was some confusion about what the crazy westerners wanted. Someone told the kamis they wanted the maker's initials on the blade. Not understanding that the customers might be interested in the illiterate low-caste craftsmen who created the knives, the kamis simply found someone who could write, and he stamped the same three initials on all knives, regardless of who made them.

I think you may have one of those knives.

Kmark,
The two letters on the side of the blade are the Devangari characters for "H" and "I".

Thank you! And to Bill...I'm very well pleased with this Kukri. It has the thickest blade I have ever seen in all my life yet it doesn't weigh as much as it looks! It chops through wood like its not even there and I feel very little vibration at all when I strike the branch/dowel hard.

In contrast my cheapo Indian kukri's handle started to rattle after only 15 minutes of use. The geometry on that ugly piece of junk is not straight, the handle scales were fitted badly and it was tempered too hard.

I cannot make an authoritative statement about Kukris, because I've only had a few in my life, but I can say that your kukris are very very good value and look great too!
