Can BM 707 Sequel "inserts" be removed/replaced?

I really like my BM mini-Grip, but want something of very similar size but a bit more "refined". The BM 707 seems the natural upgrade, as it's a bit svelter, but about the same overall length and still has that awesome Axis lock.

I notice the 707 has G10 inserts in an aluminum handle, and I think I've seen some Limited versions with wood inserts. Are the inserts permanent, or are they at all modular? Can I ship my BM off to someone to have them pop it open and put in little silver plates, or some slivers of scrimshawed bone? (Yes, I realise this would void warranty).

My sister's got a 707 and likes it a lot. It's a bit small for me, but definitely feels a couple steps classier than the Mini-Grip. Anyway, as to your question, I believe the G10 inserts are simply glued onto the aluminum scales. So, this won't be as easy as if it were held in by screws, but should be removable somehow. I'm not really a knife tinkerer, so I can't help you beyond that, but figure with that knowledge you or some other crafty person might have an easier time.

They're glued in. I haven't tried to remove mine but I guess you could "carve" them out w/ hand carving tools or a maybe a dremel. I have a standard black 707 and I was always disappointed I couldn't find the limited edition version w/ walnut inserts. If you want a 707 that's a little more interesting, Knife Works is selling a D2 version w/ green aluminum scales and black inserts for about the same price as the all black one. They're great little knives!
