Can Bone be flattened like horn?

I've got more bone than I know what to do with. You ever tried soaking it in vinegar? Maybe I'll try doing that to a piece if I remember. Ya could let Fitzo sit on it..........

I did try flattening bone. I soak it in veg oil for a week and put it in between 2 steel plate and press it with my 9 ton pin setting press. Lets say the dogs had a great time with the out come. :(

Horns are a different material altogether from what I understand they are no more than dense hair but bones are mineral of some sort.
I cook bones in a pressure cooker (making soup) every so often and if any thing they get harder or so it seems.
A friend that is an engraver also pressure cooks them and then carves them into jewelry.
If you ever find a way please let us know.

hey don when fall comes around remind me, i raise cattle and some of those big ol bones have some good flat spots, and other have enough bulk on them to sand down to make flat spots and still have plenty of room for working it. i'd be happy to send you some

Mike, You just reminded me that I stashed two front shins with hoofs back in April when I had a steer slaughtered. The last time I did that the neighbors dog ran off with them, I'll have to see if there still where I left them.....
