Could this knife be convexed?

you could convex everything but the serrations. I would just touch up the serrations with one of those little ceramic rod thingies.

I would say "yes". I think you can convex pretty much every edge. Even a chisel grind- you could just convex the ground edge.

You can still convex the whole edge as if the serrations are not there. You will just need a rod of some sort to get into the scalloped portion afterwards.

I agree, but I think WVHILLS may be asking if the interior edges (scallops) of the serrations can be convexed. I don't think that would be very easy to do and I'm not sure why you would want to anyway. But I've been wrong before (once):D

WV can you clarify this for us? Thanks.

hmmm.... never thought of it from that angle :D I don't see why someone would want to convex the scallops. The benefits, if any may not be worth the trouble. I can see trying to polish out the scallops to increase push cutting performance though.

I would try and use a some sort of wooden dowel (similar radius to scallops) and wrap it with various grits of sandpaper to achieve the final finish. Perhaps the edge of a leather strop may even work. This may or may not work. I am by no means a expert. I only pretend to be one on the internet :p

Sorry for the confusion I just meant to ask if the knife could be given a convex edge as though the serrations were not there? Not actually convex the inner part of the scallop

Couldn't you load a peice of 550 or the right diameter rope with compound have at it?

Seems pointless but feasable:thumbup:
