Can Condor Do it?

Now that we have seen some of the really cool designs proposed by Condor Knives, and taking into account a few of the threads ideas, do you think that Imacasa and the factory in El Salvador is up to the manufacturing increases that such new designs will entrail? I do believe it was mentioned that of course a few patterns would be introduced at different times, but will Condor meet the demand? There were notes in the wilderness forum that they are slower to distribute their products either by a lack of distributors or not enough name recognition, so I was wondering what you all thought about Condor being able to produce them. I hope the Kumungo and the Hudson Trail pattern would be among the first of the new patters presented.:D

I have no reason to doubt that they can do it. Their biggest hangup with new product was that when folks started clamoring for their stuff they didn't have a ton of distributors paying as much serious attention to them (they hadn't exploded onto the market yet, though they were modestly popular). Combine that with the fact that the products that folks were trying to nab were brand new models using brand new methods and materials and there's your problem.

Not enough folks distributing the product, and a bunch of hiccups while working out the new techniques and materials combined to for one big snag. I think it's safe to say that they have the techniques under their belts now, and with all the hollering people have been doing about wanting their stuff I think that more distributors will be actively stocking Condor in the future.

:)

I agree with everything 42B has said.

It occurs to me that Condor is plunging into the production knife market in a big way and — if they do meet the demand — just might change the face of the market.

If I read this right, there will suddenly be a great influx of decent quality knives on the market at very, very reasonable prices. This could well cause other manufacturers to reassess their line ups vs their pricing.

If all this comes to fruition, perhaps guided by our own Joe Flowers, we could be in for an interesting ride.

I can't wait.

Well put, sir, well put. It seems we are both very much of the same mind on this.:thumbup:

I honestly don't think that many other companies will be getting any of my money this year. :D

I'm with you on this. Condor is putting out too many good designs, at prices that even I can afford. Several of them would make my mouth water even if they were priced a little higher.

The problem is in choosing: where to start, where to start?

I'm starting with the Bush Cutlass, the Kumunga (I already have it's little brother, the Rodan), and probably the parang...or maybe the Hudson Bay...or maybe the barong...oh crap. :p But at any rate it'll be those two first. :D

I would hope that we start seeing the Condor product available. However, the fact remains, I have not been able to find the Rodan in stock anywhere on the internet. If current models are not in stock, how can they produce the new (and awsome) models.

I would like to think — although I have no basis for this — that the early ones were mostly to work out the manufacturing and distribution details, and that they've been quietly ramping up in the background. At least I hope so, because there's going to be a big demand for these.

Did you try calling SMKW? They might have it in stock. :) Also, PM sent.

I wish SMKW would put all the Condor stuff up that they carry on the website I know they have the Golok but it's not up yet and it makes me wonder why. Last I checked they have the Rodan and Nessmuk in stock.

I think Joe and condor may change the knife world forever, if theese products are a as big a hit as I assume they will be other knife companys will have to come up with somthing to compete.

And boy oh boy does Condor have a head start in that race! :D

Hey guys, first, thanks for the nice comments. I humbly do appreciate them and am really excited that ya'll are so excited about it. Condor is going to try to work their tales off to make sure that the demand can be filled. With that being said, ya'll have to let your loyal companies know what they want, it will help. I am personally going to try to make sure that there is enough of this stuff to go around for everyone, and I hope ya'll will be patient in this little endeavor. Thanks for all your wonderful support!!!!

It's the least we can do after all the effort you've put in. Must take a lot out of an old married guy like you, but still, you've done well.:D

Looking forward to the stuff coming out....I, alas, am still waiting for my rodan and bushlore to come. The company I ordered through has them on back order, but hopefully will ship in a week or so. I think we need to encourage the dealers to stock up on them. I think SOG has tried to get into the lower cost, good value market with the Fusion line. Look for others to follow suit, CS has always had some inexpensive machetes. Smart move to those of us who like blades, expensive ones too, but also want a good value for the money for knives you can really use hard.
